Who is interested in forming a Tri-Town Trap Team? The work on the trap field will soon be completed. Experienced shooters what are your recommendations for beginners? What shotgun action do you think best for newbies? What's your favorite brand of shell? Can I use the same gun I use for ducks?

For a standard trap shoot, ammo is 2-3/4"
12ga. 7-1/2 shot or 8 shot. As far as
brand of ammo I like the Federal Target
Bulk Packs you can get at Wal-Mart. Or,
Winchester AA. Either is good.
The action type is up to the shooter. I
have a Remington Autoloader that works
great, a pump would work well too. Most
serious/professional shooters tend to go
with an over/under. But remember, in trap
you are only allowed to load one round at
a time and only shooting one round at a
time so action type is up to the shooter.

A few people have asked if they could use
a .410 or a 20ga. for trap. While the
standard is 12ga. I think we could maybe
have 2 teams. A regulation 12ga. team and
an open gauge fun team.

As far as a good gun for beginners, its
really up to the shooter. If you don't
have the $$$ to invest in a good
over/under, a pump will work just fine.
